KSLA Annual Conference Review 2018

In October, KSLA came together at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center for the 51st annual conference entitled, Literacy’s Legacy.  The focus for the days remained on the many student’s lives we change each day in the classrooms.  Our students are the legacy we leave behind.  KSLA is also a part of your legacy, your educational and professional legacy. Plan to become an active participant in your local council in the coming year.

One Book – One Conference, The Word Collector was a highlight of Peter Reynolds.  The author shared his story and passion for reading, as well as Say Something, the surprising sequel, soon to be released.

Authors certainly bring literacy to life with their many stories and creative ideas, as we love to share their work with our students.  The conference wouldn’t be great without the wonderful group of educators that share their experiences from school districts and colleges across the state.

Lester Laminack, Peter Reynolds, Laura Robb, John Schumacher, Weston Kieschnick, Matt Stem, Olivia Van Ledtje provided current information and inspiration. Bernadette Dwyer, current President of the International Literacy Association was available to attend and present at our conference.

The Keystone State Literacy Association’s conference was made success possible through the efforts of many individuals, the competent staff of the Penn Stater Hotel.  A huge thank you to our conference committee, members, volunteers and presenters that made conference 2018 a success!

Plan to join us for the 52nd Annual Conference at Hershey Lodge, October 30 – November 1, 2019.

Yours in Literacy,

Kathy Sagl
